It's been a few months since I announced my YouTube ambitions.
I've not been sleeping on it. I've been busy preparing.
Learning...consuming...
I'm preparing to cook.
And the first step in making good food is to have good tastes.
So basically, I've been binge watching lots of YouTube videos 😂
Especially the viral ones.
And having an incredible time with it.
2 weeks ago I saw a video by a Japanese teenage girl band by the name of XG.
You would NEVER expect this...
...but their rap music has been melting the brains of veteran black rappers in America.
Making grown men squeel like teenage Swifties.
I swear--I never seen such reactions from tough middle aged guys 🤣
They've broken all stereotypes, exploded into the market they want to go into, and gained all the veterans' respect.
I haven't even gotten started on the 'Alphaz' - their fandom.
My first YouTube video is going to be an expert breakdown of their wildly ambitious (and successful) decade-long brand development plan.
Quick note: before I release that video, a written version of that essay will be made available to you, my subscribers 🙂
Anyway, today while I was researching more XG stuff, I found another Asian viral sensation.
This man also broke stereotypes and boundaries, and if you use TikTok, you probably heard his music before.
His name is Hanumankind from - get this - INDIA.
